October 24th
United Nations Day, also referred to as UN Day, celebrates the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the United Nations Charter. With the finalizing of this founding document by the majority of those involved, including the five members of the Security Council, this was when the United Nations officially launched.
The 24th of October has been honored as UN Day since 1948. In 1971, the United Nations General Assembly suggested that Member States celebrate this day by establishing a public holiday.
