The International Day of South-South Cooperation celebrates solidarity between peoples and nations of the South that add to their national well-being, their national and collective independence, and them reaching internationally recognized sustainable development goals which include those highlighted in the Agenda 2030. The day celebrates the cooperation that is done through collaboration among countries of the South in political, economic, social, cultural, environmental and technical areas. South-South cooperation involves two or more developing countries and can take place in various forms. Sharing knowledge, expertise, and available resources is the backbone of South-South cooperation.
The United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation highlights the developments and achievements in recent years, and celebrates the UN’s contribution in these processes.
