The United Nations held commemorative events for the Rwandan Genocide of 1994. The U.N. designated the 7th of April as the International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, while also keeping in remembrance the Hutus and all opposers of the genocide who lost their lives.
The title of the annual honoring was previously recognized as International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide in Rwanda but has since been updated. As the 7th of April was the start of the Genocide, the U.N. puts together an annual program at the New York headquarters and global offices.
