As the founder of the World Human Accountability Organization (WHAO), Chairman Zhu personally visited a local village in Liangshan, Sichuan and donated daily necessities to all the residents. With fresh food, new clothing and learning supplies, Chairman Zhu hoped to improve their overall quality of life and encourage the children to work diligently towards their goals, as to become valuable members of society in the near future. As Chairman Zhu spent the day in the village, he learned about the hardships faced by the villagers, including their difficult living conditions and scarce food sources. Those who were physically incapable of strenuous labor work, such as young children and elderly grandparents, remained in the village while the others went into the fields.

Chairman Zhu also decided to adopt three of the children from the same family, whose grandparents can no longer support the family due to the lack of income. After his first visit, WHAO decided to establish a foundation to provide for the children financially until they finish their college undergraduate education. With this, Chairman Zhu hopes to contribute as much as possible to provide access to education for children to improve their futures. Throughout the year, Chairman Zhu revisited the same village multiple times to ensure their living conditions are gradually improving.

CHAIRMAN ZHU cooking dumplings FOR  THE LOCAL VILLAGErs

Chairman Youyu Zhu visited Liangshan, Sichuan, China, for a third time during the Chinese New Year. He paid the locals a visit in order to celebrate the time of year and promote a healthy lifestyle. He brought plenty of traditional Chinese food with him, including dumplings. Dumplings are recorded to date back to over 2000 years ago when a doctor named Zhongjing Zhang began preparing them in Han dynasty. He used dumplings as medicine for ear wounds during the cold season. He mixed lamb and black pepper as stuffing and prepared a flour dough to use as a cover for the stuffing. Overtime, the popularity of his new dish grew and people eventually incorporated it into their New Year’s celebrations.

Another reason people mainly prepare them during New Year’s Day is because it requires a lot of time, labor, and money to make. Although you can find dumplings in just about any food service area in China, there are some villages that still do not have access to them. Some children live in China and have never seen dumplings in their lives. Chairman Zhu remains committed to ensure all children have a happy childhood, and hopes this experience added to their joy.
