Following the adoption program in Liangshan, Sichuan, Chairman Zhu asked to collaborate with Mrs. Hongxia Deng from the local health center. Together, they discusses ways to support other underprivileged children in the Liangshan area. Mrs. Deng was able to provide the WHAO Office in China a list of approximately 200 children living in impoverishment. By personally visiting the different communities, Chairman Zhu was able to witness their unhealthy living conditions and establish lasting relationships with the villagers. By establishing a WHAO workstation in Liangshan, our organization was able to financially support many children through our adoption program, which will provide them with access to education and living necessities. To this day, WHAO still advocates for poverty relief through volunteering, aid support and adoption programs.

Before WHAO
Children in Liangshan suffered from severe poverty, often even more intensely than adults. They lacked the basic essential supplies, struggled to afford three meals a day and lacked sufficient clothing and shelter. During winter, the communities in Liangshan, Sichuan suffer from the extremely low temperatures, yet they lack warm clothing and isolating shelter.
The living conditions were extremely low-quality, unsafe and lacked the essential furniture. Children were forced to share one twin-sized bed due to the lack of resources in the community.
